SPADES TOURNAMENT
So, you think you can play spades? Do you have a spades partner that's killing it in spades? If so, test your skills against 12 other teams in The Christmas Spades Tournament! You can win $500! Hosted by Indianapolis's very own Ilesha Tevis.
THE RULES
-
Teams consist of two players.
-
All games go to 250.
-
Championship Game goes to 500.
-
The highest card flipped over determines the first dealer for the 1st hand.
-
A dealer must offer the player to his/her right, the opportunity to cut the cards after they are shuffled and before they are dealt.
-
A misdeal can be called for one of the following reasons: The player was not dealt exactly 13 cards. Player does not have any spades and does not have any face cards.
-
The firsthand bids itself
-
After the first hand is played, the non-dealing team must bid first.
-
The minimum bid per team is 4.
-
“Blind”, “Nil” or “Nine” bids are not allowed.
-
Table Talk or providing hints to a partner is strictly prohibited.
-
Trash talking and taunting is strictly prohibited.
-
The highest card is the Big Joker, then the Little Joker, Ace of Spades, etc.
-
Once a card is played, it cannot be picked up. “A Card Laid is A Card Played.”
-
1 book = 10 pts
-
Not making the “O” (a bid of 10 books) = Minus 100 pts
-
Not reaching a team bid (set) = Minus (number of bidded books) x 10 pts
-
This is a “No Overs” game.
-
If the game ends in a tie, for an example 240 each team, 1 additional will be played to determine the winner.
